Writing The Winter’s Journey of My Youth fulfilled my passion as a writer, coupled with the desire to recall my life as a Jewish girl growing up in Hitler’s Germany. Copious notes about my early experience, stashed away, served as the beginning. I became obsessed with the memoir and put all other writing aside. Shuttling back and forth between the past and the present caused me considerable pain; at times, I seemed to lose my identity.

That, of course, is part of being a writer. Regardless of the subject, you lose yourself in your story. Mine, was worth the effort.

Listening to music continues to be my greatest pleasure; playing chess—which Father taught me while we lived in hiding-- has become a favorite hobby. I am a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Les Dames d'Escoffier, and The Culinary Historians of New York. I live in New York City with my husband George.
